The Bulgari Hotel-Milan

Now that Milan's fashion week has finished and all the fashion elite have left the town, it may be feeling a little empty. There are still the gorgeous boutiques and beautiful people gracing the streets but if you are looking for a hidden away piece of luxury, this is the place for you.

The Bulgari hotel and resort line has hotels and resorts in Milan, Bali and soon in London. The Bulgari hotel in Milan is everything you would expect and more, it gives of an effortlessly stylish, sexy vibe which is reflected in all aspects of the decoration right down to the vases of flowers on the table. It is situated on a private street in the heart of Milan's fashion district and the building was once an 18th century Milanese palazzo that has been tastefully renovated into the stunning hotel it is today. The whole place oozes relaxation and it even has its own 4000 square meter botanical garden which is connected to the botanical gardens of Milan just nearby. It is a real palace to calm and serenity in the midst of the busy city of Milan.

The decor is just like a chocolate box, a rich combination of browns, blacks and whites all juxtaposed to create the perfect scene. The staff are all dressed in super smart uniforms and are never seen with a hair out of place, although behind this smart, professional facade it is possible to see the friendly, caring personalities of the staff as they welcome you in. The are even design books and glossy magazines on the coffee table for you to read, close to the fire to keep you warm in the cold winter months.

The hotel hosts 58 rooms which includes 11 suites which are luminous in size and highly minimal in decoration. The rooms are designed to create a refined yet welcoming feel to the room and precious materials such as teak just add to the feeling of refinement. Each room looks out onto the botanical gardens or a private courtyard, allowing guests to experience the calmness of outside from the comfort of their rooms.

If the decadence and refinement are not enough for you then the hotel also houses a spa and wellness center where guests can indulge their bodies and spirits in the harmonious atmosphere of the spa. The spa is the perfect example of how well Bulgari do simple elegance. The glass walls of the spa act as a daylight filter, only letting in light up to a certain level to create the relaxed, zen like feeling that is very much needed. The daylight then creates a sparkling effect on the pure gold tiles that line the pool which gives the impression the guests have died and gone to heaven.

There is also a bar in the hotel which draws a voguish crowd of business people, Japanese couples and yummy mummy types to it's tables every night. It is the perfect place to watch the elite of Milan whilst you sip your cocktails. No trip to this hotel is complete without a trip to the bar.

Overall, this hotel is at the height of its game, offering everything imaginable to its guests but of course, at a price. If you want to step off the world for a few days but not be in the middle of nowhere then the Bulgari hotel in Milan is the place for you. Milan Menswear Shows SS12 Roundup-Catwalk Report

Now the menswear shows are done and dusted in Milan, we can start to get excited about fashion week in September. However, as I have been posting countless photographs of the shows over the past few days, I think it is only right to roundup the coverage with an overview of the week as a whole.

As you can see from the photos...Roberto Cavalli gave us a collection of highly tailored bright summer suits, injecting colour and life into the old fashioned concept of mens suits. This was also carried on by McQueen who featured plush velvet jackets in rich yellows and reds along with outstanding tailoring. Even Versace featured bright colours making their collection appear like "Grandad's wardrobe on acid" as one blogger put it yesterday.

Milan fashion week was not all folly and decadence however, the Dolce & Gabbana show featured a palette of navy blues, black and white that made up an army of sharp, edgy suits. The Ferragamo show took us back in time to a time when colonialism was the only lifestyle. The rich earthy tones of the crisply pressed light summer fabric and the wide brimmed hats made the models appear as if they were living the high life on the French Riviera during the 1930's or in the British controlled areas of India. It took us back in time and made us remember the roots of menswear as we know it today.

It was not just the collections themselves that caused a storm this season but also the scenery in which the collections were shown. Prada's show embraced the much loved summer sport Golf and had its audiences dotted across the carpet of bright green astroturf on electric blue foam cubes which had been individually named for all the attendees of the show. This provided the models a maze through which to walk through to display the clothes of the season. This intimate show caused a huge sensation on Twitter where show attendees kept posting photos of their seats at the show, still in disbelief at the prospect  of sitting for a whole half hour on a foam cube. It was also at the Prada show that male model Karl Morrall made an appearance. After watching Channel 4's hit TV series The Model Agency which featured the London based agency Premier Models, he decided to pop in to their office whilst on a trip to London and from that moment onwards he left his supermarket job to hit the Milan catwalks.

Never before has menswear caused such a stir in the world of fashion but it seems this year that everyone wants a piece of the action. The talk on Twitter was non stop with bloggers like Bryan Boy updating us of his every move during his trip to the shows. Designers also took advantage of the demand for knowledge about the SS12 shows and they were regularly updating their Facebook, websites and Twitter accounts with new photos from backstage and from the front row of the catwalk. This just proves the power bloggers have in the world of fashion and how accessible high fashion is becoming due to the rise of social networking sites. Viva Fashion!!
